About the Event
Climate change is reducing the quality of our lives and widening social inequalities. It’s impacting the very communities charities work to support. It’s also likely to affect the day-to-day work of charities across different subsectors. Fossil fuels are the largest contributor to climate change. They account for over 75% of global greenhouse gas emissions and nearly 90% of all carbon dioxide emissions. Through divesting investments from fossil fuels, charities have an opportunity to take practical actions which have environmental impacts. Divestment can help us secure a brighter future for our communities.
Join us to explore:
- what fossil fuel divestment is - how fossil fuel divestment can help tackle climate change - reasons for charities to consider divestment - Charity Commission guidance on ethical investments.
