About the Event

Time for a festive campaign to encourage local giving?

At this challenging time for fundraising, particularly for smaller and local charities, this is an opportunity to come together to plan and develop a campaign to encourage local giving this winter. Each year, research indicates that more people tend to give at Christmas (e.g. www.civilsociety.co.uk/news/over-40-percent-of-people-more-likely-to-donate-at-christmas-survey-finds.html) but with strong marketing campaigns from larger and national charities, it can be hard for our local charities to cut through. With the continuing decline in the number of givers across the UK, this is also an opportunity to inspire more charitable giving and promote the extraordinary impact this has in our local communities.

Join the roundtable discussion on 10th September to talk about:

  • how a ‘Give Locally’ campaign could be most effective
  • what resources would be helpful for local charities and companies to share
  • whether charities would like to be part of a Festive Giving Directory (e.g. https://trurodiocese.org.uk/about-us/christmas-giving/catalogue)
  • how to clearly communicate the impact of giving locally

We don’t have any budget or staff dedicated to make this happen so looking for local fundraisers and comms staff to get involved. Growing local giving would make such a difference to support our communities this winter and hopefully build connections with new supporters, leading to longer-term impact as well.
