About the Event

This workshop is being led by Olivia Evans – Senior Account Executive at Clearly PR.* 

A guided tour of PR basics for anyone who is yet to dip their toe in the water in media relations work or would like to refresh their memory of the basics. From creating a press strategy to writing a press release, this session will serve as a PR 101. A more advanced workshop will be run later in the year. 

This beginner Press Workshop will cover the following aspects:

Creating a PR strategy

  • Defining your goals
  • Devising strategies to achieve them
  • Defining your audience
  • Timing - Awareness Days

Writing press releases

  • Structure and angles
  • Tone of voice

Writing press pitches

  • Different types of compelling pitches and purpose

Press follow ups

  • You’ve sent a press release and nothing has happened – now what?

Creating a media list

  • Where to find contacts
  • Who to contact and how to ensure they are relevant
