SWALLOW was founded in 1993 and the charity now supports over 130 members, providing tailor-made support to enable them to live their lives to the full as independently as possible.

SWALLOW is user-led which means that our members are at the heart of everything we do. Our members have a say in all of the courses, activities and events that we run. This role is integral to empowering every individual and to maintaining the high standards and variety that our members expect from us.

Percy Group Leader Job Description

Job Title: Group Leader

Hourly Wage: £11.02 (Leader Pay Scale)

Hours: 10 hours per week, Tuesdays and Wednesdays 9.30-14.30

Place of work: Percy Community Centre, Bath

Reports to: SWALLOW Courses Manager

Job Purpose:
To lead the group on a Tuesday and Wednesday at the Percy Community Centre.

Main Responsibilities:

Work with the Courses Manager to develop a structure for the running of the group.
Plan sessions, recipes for cookery and ensure all necessary equipment is available for the group to run smoothly on a weekly basis.
Through therapeutic development support the group to develop skills and gain confidence.
Be responsible for the general welfare of the members whilst they are attending the group along with other support workers.
Manage and support any volunteers and support workers when appropriate.
Show around and introduce new members to the group.
Complete monitoring forms for all attending to help assess and evaluate.
Attend reviews of members or provide feedback as required to the courses development manager.
To work within the SWALLOW risk assessment framework to provide support that minimises risk in the least restrictive manner.
