Sent on behalf of Tracey Cox and Dr Andrew Girdher: Merger of Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire Clinical Commissioning Groups
"These are extremely challenging times for everyone involved in health and care across BaNES, Swindon and Wiltshire and we would like to pass on our heartfelt thanks for all of the work everybody is involved in during our ongoing battle against coronavirus.
Because of the enormous pace and scale of work taking place, it may have slipped your mind that today – Wednesday 1st April – marks the date that our three clinical commissioning groups of Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire formally come together as a single organisation.
We had hoped the announcement of our merger would have been a moment of celebration but, out of respect for what is happening here and across the country, it is instead a time to prove that this joining-of-forces can bring much-needed resilience, leadership and, above all else, practical, on-the-ground support to those going above and beyond to tackle the coronavirus outbreak.
Merging the three single CCGs not only enables us to become more efficient in how we plan and deliver local healthcare, but also ensures we have the key players from all areas of local healthcare around the same table making decisions quickly, strategically and in the best interest of our population.
One of the ways we are marking our merger today is through the launch of a new BSW CCG website at www.bswccg.nhs.uk. This new resource contains a great deal of valuable information, including up to date news which you will find useful as we continue to deal with the challenges posed by coronavirus.
We will keep you informed about how our newly-merged organisation is developing over the coming month. If you have any questions, please send them to BSWCCG.communications@nhs.net. Please also share this e-mail with your wider networks.
In the meantime we would like to thank you once again for your ongoing support."
