New Directory and Training Offers from Avon Wildlife Trust

Avon Wildlife Trust are delighted to launch two new offers in Bath and North East Somerset, including a green social prescribing directory, and several funded training opportunities.

Following the green social prescribing pilot project in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire, the West of England Nature Partnership are updating the green social prescribing directory to include Bath and North East Somerset.

The purpose of the directory is to help signpost people to nature-based projects to support their health and wellbeing, and will be available both in print and electronic forms .

If you are running a nature-based project and would like to be included in the new edition of the directory please email Helen (Nature and Health Coordinator, West of England Nature Partnership) helen.wood@avonwildlifetrust.org.uk who will send you a form to complete.

The West of England Nature Partnership (WENP) are also collaborating with Natural Academy to provide two funded accredited training courses to help build the nature-health sector.

The Natural Academy has developed the NatureWell approach from over 14 years of working with people’s health and wellbeing in natural settings. It is rooted in supporting people and nature to recover and flourish together.

Organisations such as Avon Wildlife Trust and Somerset Wildlife Trust have embedded this approach into their wellbeing work as well as many community groups and mental health teams. The structure and principles covered can be applied to a variety of activities such as food growing and nature conservation/restoration work.

Natural Academy are offering ‘Nature and Health Facilitator’ and ‘Nature Community Connector’ training, both accredited level 2 by OCN. Further information about the courses can be found here: NatureWell approach - Natural Academy.

WENP are offering some fully funded and half funded training places for people actively working with groups who experience health inequalities and who are not able to fund independently or through their organisation. The usual cost is £580 and £380 respectively (additional self-funded places are also available).
